Pussy Riot is a protest art collective once based in Moscow, formed in 2011 with approx. 11 women, known for unauthorised provocative guerrilla punk-style performances in unusual public places, which brought 3 of them to prison camps.
Maria Alyokhina was one of them, and wrote a book about it: “Riot Days”. The book was transformed into a multi-media performance that has traveled around the world.
In her second book “Political Girl” (Penguin, November 2025), she continues the story, including the assassination of Navalny and her own spectacular escape from Russia. This book brought huge publicity, including the cover of the Sunday Times. The live performance “Pussy Riot: Riot Days” featuring Maria Alyokhina, has been adapted to the content of the new book.
